Columbia Street Reconstruction Informational Meeting
The Brooklyn CB6 Transportation Committee is pleased to host an Informational Meeting on the Reconstruction of Columbia Street project
Join us as we hear an update from representatives for the City’s Department of Design and Construction, Department of Transportation, New York City Transit (invited) and the 76th Precinct on this neighborhood-wide Capital project.
The Reconstruction of Columbia Street (Capital project HWK-700A) involves a comprehensive reconstruction of the major streets in the Columbia Street District including Columbia Street, Degraw Street and Van Brunt Street. It includes the installation of new and upgraded infrastructure (e.g., trunk water mains, distribution water mains and sewers). It will also establish a continuous bicycle lane/recreation path through the neighborhood along the perimeter of the Red Hook Containerport at Columbia, Degraw and Van Brunt Streets. This project is budgeted at $18 million, was started in October 2005 and was initially projected to take 2 years to complete.
